MY HAIR JOURNEY (Part 1)

Are you those who like to beautify hair by coloring it? If you say so, then you are in the right place because here I will share my experience in the process of bleaching and coloring my hair. However, if you are the type of person who is comfortable with your natural hair color and DOESN'T LIKE hair dye at all, well, you are in the wrong place.

So let’s begin...

I had dyed my hair for fun even when I was in middle school, but I dyed it intensively when I graduated from high school. Life is too short to have boring hair. It will be very bored if my hair color is always black for the rest of my life, so I'm a typical person who takes risks by coloring it.

Unfortunately, to get the color like in the picture (above), for those of us who have black hair naturally, we need more effort to get such color.

I used to play safe by coloring my hair without bleaching, and the results? I always get the same results; boring-reddish brown, even I choose different brands and colors.

Time by time, I often see hair dye techniques in professional salons that I see on Instagram, it was changed my mind, now I have a strong desire to get more arising color results. Then I took the risk by bleaching my hair.

In December 2018, I began to bleach my hair. Previously I had asked one of the famous salons in the city, I was a bit surprised when they set the price up to 3 million Rupiah for hair coloring with a balayage effect. WHAT THE... I know, I know, hair coloring through professional which is we need to prepare a lot of money, but... when I hear the real price, I still shocked.

Finally, I decided to bleach my own hair at home. Besides I want to learn how to dye hair like a pro, as I often see from beauty vloggers on YouTube and Instagram. Actually I want to take a beauty course, but I don't want to ask my parents for money, so I want to learn at home all by myself. Next, if I already have my own money, I will take a beauty course abroad.

First bleaching results

I searched a lot of information on the internet about hair bleaching at home. At that time I bought a cheap local bleach powder, I forgot about the brand and I also forgot to take a picture of the product. Moreover, I didn't like that product because the results weren't too significant, you can see the picture above, the results are still like regular coloring without bleaching.

Second bleaching results

Entering the new year in January 2019. The picture above is the result of the second bleaching, which is begun to brighter color than the results of the first bleaching. For this, I use affordable local product, Miranda, it just for IDR 10,000. Very cheap, huh? Deliberately I chose the brand because it was recommended by several local beauty vloggers.

In addition, I have to save money because I have to prepare the costs to attend an international conference in Kitakyushu, Japan. My hair is still fairly normal but has begun to dry somewhat. Well... not bad...

For the developer, I use Makarizo with 40 volume or 12% peroxide (this is a fatal mistake that I made because I chose a high volume).

Third bleaching results

Still with the same brand, Miranda, I bleached my hair for the third in the same month, a week later from the last bleaching. My hair have started to turn yellow and also dry.

Fourth bleaching results

Aku masih belum kapok because I didn't get the results I wanted. I’m confused why I still haven't gotten a really bright color, even though I've chosen a developer with a high volume, and now my hair is completely dry.

If you look carefully at the picture (above), then you will see the difference in my hair which is already brassy, fluffy, and dry. Totally damage. I assume this might be that product isn’t good enough, the results aren’t optimal even though this is the fourth time I’m doing this. #Duh!

Finally, it’s time to dye my hair. I was obsessed with ash gray, so I dyed my hair with that color, with the same brand, Miranda. I don't know, I still comfort using this. Produk yang sangat affordable untuk aku yang harus berhemat untuk persiapan conference, tapi tetap ingin bergaya, hahaha.

I feel proud of myself because finally I can get the color I want, not 100% as expected, but at least rambutku sekarang berwarna lebih berbeda dibandingkan tanpa bleaching. I think it’s enough already, lol.

Too bad, during the process, I didn't have time to take pictures properly, so I documented with a selfie and the resolution of the pictures aren’t professional. However, I got a good picture before my departure to Japan, here we go...

As seen in the picture (above), my hair is really dry, but I still proud of my hair color, not everybody in this city can get a color like this, why? because not everybody want to take a risk by bleaching their hair. Just like I said, to get such a color we need more effort, patience, time, even money.

For my hair, I give treatment like using a hair mask or cream bath, hair vitamins, and hair oil. I realize, now my hair needs medical help or hairdresser services in a professional salon, well, maybe next time when I have a right time to go there.

I learned something while hair coloring process; collect your allowance to buy good hair dye products in order to get maximum results.

Selama aku menggunakan Miranda, hasil pada awal pewarnaan memang bagus, seperti yang diharapkan, tapi produknya tidak tahan lama. Satu minggu setelah aku diwarna ketika aku perlu membasuh rambut, warna pada rambutku sudah luntur, damn!

The intention to be stylish in Japan with cool hair color becomes embarrassing because my hair turns yellow, and I really hate that. In fact, I became the most blonde student during workshop and conference at Kitakyushu University, and it makes me uncomfortable and not confident, tbh.
